Appleby Eden are the 2026 ICS Accounting Westmorland League champions. Remarkably none of their games have been abandoned through rain and with two games to go their record reads 18 wins, 1 defeat and 1 tie. They have again been well led by Morgan Fothergill who, along with Ben Allison and Jack Sutton, has exceeded 400 runs for the season. Sutton and Allison also top the bowling charts, and the club had a boost when halfway through the campaign, Rob Hook joined from Hexham to add weight to batting and bowling. On Saturday Allison (5/51) and Sutton (5/32) bowled out Settle 2nds for 127, Elliot Marklew (44) top scoring. Alison (83 not out) and Hook (45 not out) then added 126 to confirm the Championship. Lindal Moor nailed down second spot with a win against Warton. Brad Stephens (50) and Ryan Gilmour (56 not out) spearheaded their 212/5 and Ed Waind’s 4/14 ensured that Warton fell well short on 68/9.
The games at Carnforth and Coniston didn’t start and rain at Arnside when Holme were 30/0 chasing Arnside’s 131 means that Arnside and Coniston are relegated. Holme’s left armers Dan Lawson (3/28) and Andrew Metcalfe (4/19) shared the wickets. Joel Maree made 83 in Haverigg’s 202 before it rained at Sedgwick, taking Maree past 600 League runs.
Few people will have had Ingleton on their card for the title in Division 2B, but Saturday’s draw at Millom means that they need a single point to return to Division 1 for the first time since 2005. Mark Hughes (69) and Huw Sharpe (42) took them to 197 and Millom were 42/6 (Tom Earnshaw 3/19) when rain prevented their confirmation as champions, but now they will have the chance to fittingly complete the job at home on Saturday. Their nearest challengers, Heysham 2nds lost at Netherfield by 5 wickets. Morecambe 3rds beat Barrow 2nds on DLS with Balaj Bakthaiya taking 6/29. The top five are guaranteed Division 2 cricket next season and Westgate 2nds moved up to 6th, 2 points behind Windermere, when they bowled out Windermere for 51, Andy Nisbet taking 6/17 and Syed Gulrez 4/30. Matthew Lee (45 not out) top scored for Bare, but their 214/8 was in vain as the rain arrived at Cross Hill Park with Furness 2nds 14/3 in reply.
Vickerstown are 7 points ahead of Hawcoat Park in Division 2A after beating Sedgwick 2nds with John Burns making 43 out of 154. Their talisman Gareth Benson then took 8/20 in a 62 run win. Hawcoat reduced Shireshead 2nds to 42/6, with Callum Muncaster taking 4/38, but Tom Brown and Mike Mead both made 34 to get the score to 149 and then the rain arrived. Darren Wills 4/8 and Andy Cormack 3/7 bowled out Cartmel for 45 with Milnthorpe going on to win by 9 wickets. Elliott Riley’s 20 not out means that he has now scored 1076 runs in all competitions in the 2026 season. Kirkby in Furness stemmed their losing streak with a win against Kendal 2nds. James Thornton (44), Rob Fugler (43) and Sam Marshall (49) enabled them to score 215/7. Kendal finished 62 runs short despite a late cameo from Syed Ashraf (44 not out). At Ambleside, Jon Mason (3/20) and Noah Irwin (3/17) restricted the home side to 130/9. The in-form Robbie Letcher (65 not out) and Ali James (49) gave Silversale a 7 wicket win.
6 points separates Penrith 2nds and Trimpell in Division 3 after Penrith bowled out Ulverston 2nds for 91, but rain prevented more than 9 balls in the second innings. In Division 4, Champions Galgate lost their 100% record at the last fence slipping to a 5 wicket defeat at Dalton. Corey Gilliland (3/13) and Soren Anderson (3/13) starred as Galgate were all out for 80 with Chris Sharpe’s unbeaten 28 seeing Dalton to a 5 wicket win. William Hughes (61) and Glyn Caine (86) set up a win for Lindal 2nds against Haverigg 2nds completed by Godwin Pereira (4/20) and Guy Mason (5/9). Ricky Das took 4/9 for Arnside 2nds before their game with Bare 2nds was abandoned, while there was no play in Silverdale 2nds v Bolton le Sands.
Sunday’s play in Division 5 was badly affected by the weather, but there was time for Settle 3rds to post 164 and bow out Burneside 3rds for 17.
